The best dark beer goulash

The best dark beer goulash I’ve ever had. The staff were very friendly and the food was served quickly. I can absolutely recommend this restaurant!

Classic German and Thuringian cuisine

Outdoor seating both in front of the restaurant (with a view of Herderplatz) and in the beer garden. Service and kitchen are excellent. A real plus: children’s meals can be mixed and matched from several options.

Dining like in Goethe’s time…

If you’re looking for traditional, good German cuisine in Weimar in a house full of history, you’ve come to the right place. You can sit in front of the restaurant, inside, or in the large beer garden at the back and enjoy a cold draft beer under the old chestnut trees that Goethe likely knew as well. The dishes are delicious and generous, and the service is hard-working and friendly—even when it’s very busy. My greatest respect goes to the small kitchen team, who in an equally small kitchen churn out dishes at an incredible pace. I also think it’s great that they’re open every day from 11 a.m.—that’s rather rare in Weimar, where many places only open from 5 p.m. and have multiple days off.

Whether it’s a family celebration, a company dinner, or a get-together with friends – with us, every group meal becomes an experience. For groups of 20 to 80 people, we are happy to reserve a private area for you and, upon request, provide our group menu. Choose your menu in advance, sit back, and enjoy the evening – we’ll take care of the rest.

Please use the form for reservations.

On the day of your reservation, online bookings are possible until 10:00 a.m.; after that, only by phone. Tables in the outdoor area cannot be reserved.

In addition to the automatic reservation confirmation, we will confirm your reservation again in a seperate e-mail!
